Giorgio Rinolfi and Quy Sam’s performance on Castel dell’Ovo in Napoli is a tale of the city in five acts. The main characters of the work are the feelings connected to the experiences of a city like Napoli.
From the mapping of the iconic building, the performance draws an instinctive and primordial path that starts with a Heartbeat..

Il lavoro creato da Giorgio Rinolfi e Quy Sam su Castel dell’Ovo a Napoli è un racconto della città in cinque atti. Protagonisti, tuttavia, non sono fatti e persone, ma piuttosto le sensazioni che si provano confrontandosi con una città come Napoli.
Si parte dalla mappatura di un edificio icona della città, per comunicare un percorso istintivo e primordiale che comincia con il battito di un Cuore..

Energies are growing from the castle, its façade becoming a living organ, travelled by veins and fuelled with life. A very ancient body as suggested by the classical inspiration of the music, but subject to a constant mutation and therefore absolutely contemporary.

Emerging from this vital energy a Medusa, protagonist of the second act. Mysterious and fascinating, but at the same time a fickle and dangerous creature. A fluid movement and the medusa multiplies to become a plurality, image of a strong community, gifted with a unique “art of living”. Passionate and vain, but also unpredictable, superstitious and challenged.

No time for doubts, at the beginning of the third act you’re already in love. That is when Words arrive like spheres of Energy, overwhelming and seductive (poems by Silvia Zamperini). Whispers and non-senses from male and female voices, from different ages and worlds, descriptions without rules. Laugh or cry, the taste is bittersweet.

The Fourth act explores the physical essence of Sound, likewise impossible to think of a mute Napoli. Sound becomes the dress of the castle, a tailored caress, attiring the building with the rhythmic movement of the sonogram.

Silence. That is how the ending starts, casually, with a solitary walk. Suddenly and spontaneously a Wonderland grows, where air balloons are egg or heart-shaped, and a celebration is going on, with many laughs and hopes, under a rain of fireworks, on the tragicomic stage of life.

Dal castello si diramano le energie della città, il suo prospetto diventa un corpo umano, percorso da vene, irrorato di vita. Un corpo antichissimo come suggerisce la base classica del commento musicale, ma parte di una realtà che non smette di mutare e per questo estremamente contemporanea.

Da questa energia vitale emerge la Medusa, protagonista del secondo atto. Creatura misteriosa e affascinante, ma allo stesso tempo volubile e pericolosa. Un movimento fluido e le meduse diventano una moltitudine. Simbolo di un popolo forte, dotato di quell’arte di vivere difficile da trovare altrove. Passionale e vanitoso, ma anche imprevedibile, superstizioso, problematico.

Non si ha tempo di dubitare perché all’inizio del terzo atto ci si è già perdutamente innamorati: così arrivano le Parole, in vere e proprie sfere di energia, che travolgono e incantano (le poesie sono di Silvia Zamperini). Sussurri e non sensi di uomini e donne di mondi ed età diversi, descrizioni senza regola per ridere o piangere, il sapore qui è agrodolce.

Al quarto atto si indaga la fisicità del Suono, impossibile immaginare Napoli muta. Il suono diventa così l’abito del castello, una carezza fatta su misura che riempie l’edificio con il movimento ritmico e calibrato del sonogramma.

Silenzio. Il finale scaturisce per casualità, con l’aprirsi di una porta e una passeggiata solitaria. In men che non si dica, del tutto spontaneamente, è un Paese delle meraviglie quello in cui ci si ritrova, dove i palloncini hanno forma di uovo e di cuore, dove si fa festa, si ride e si spera che domani vada meglio, sotto una pioggia di fuochi d’artificio, su quel palcoscenico tragicomico che è la vita.

Marco Iannelli & Quy Sam aka Mr Q composed the soundtrack for ‘ No Gravity’ a contemporary dance show based on movements performed in vertigo. The show had a 3 weeks sell-out at the Teatro Nationale in Milan. The public demanded more, so it has resulted in a european tour.

E se l’uomo potesse volare? Le finestre sarebbero porte e tutti camminerebbero dentro i propri sogni. Una novità assoluta.

Tutto il fascino della magia in uno show sospeso dove, grazie ad una sofisticata macchina teatrale, verranno stravolte le leggi della fisica.

Il corpo umano sarà il protagonista di una nuova dimensione “verticale” dove i ballerini, all’interno di una grande scena cubica, si muoveranno tra effetti sorprendenti e dalla forza dirompente, accompagnando lo spettatore in una dimensione “senza gravità” dove la magia del volo diventa realtà.

The installation was exhibit in several theatres in the north of Italy. The subject is a conflict between green and blue, which transforms between various appearences of human relations through body movements and communications of hate, envy, lust and love..
